    @86Etl86 yes, because in the sketch he is playing a character named alan. the scene after the red tuba bit is referring to them to as theirselves, inbetween the filming of the sketches in the show – so they’re playing themselves (david mitchell and robert webb) – and still made it funny, if you get me?

    @86Etl86 Alan is the character’s name and David is the actor’s name. The last bit is supposed to be them IRL after working on that sketch.
